CEDA welcomes inaugural Australian Space Agency (ASA) Chief Executive, Dr Megan Clark AC, to deliver a keynote address as part of CEDA’s future of work series.

Australia’s recent announcement to sign a $150 million deal with NASA highlights our clear determination to crack into the US$350 billion global space market and our driverless mining trucks and remote health technologies could be key to NASA’s 2024 Moon mission.

While Australia has not had a national space agency until recently,  Australia already has a well-established local space industry, worth around $4 billion and employing more than 10,000 people. The ASA will be charged with transforming and growing this already respected industry that will in turn lift the broader economy, inspire and improve the lives of Australians and will be underpinned by strong international and national engagement.

Dr Clark will explore what this means in terms of the jobs and workforce of the future, not just in the space industry sector, but spilling over into defence, innovation and AI/machine learning sectors more generally, and the critical role that South Australia can play.

Dr Clark will be joined on stage with industry leaders to provide their own insight and understanding of the bright future ahead.
