Five new projects funded though Queensland Earth Observation Hub

24 Jun 2025

The Queensland Earth Observation Hub (EO Hub) is excited to announce five successful projects from its latest funding round, supporting industry-led research partnerships that advance Earth Observation (EO) technologies towards commercialisation.

The EO Hub, supported by SmartSat CRC and the Queensland Government, is accelerating the growth of Queensland’s space industry by providing financial, in-kind, and business support to companies and research institutions developing innovative Earth observation technologies.

With industry co-contribution funding of up to $150,000 per project over six months, the EO Hub is advancing the commercialisation of research, supporting EO product and service development, and reinforcing Queensland’s leadership in Earth observation innovation and its real-world applications.

The newly funded projects are:

These projects will deliver practical tools with significant impact across key sectors for Queensland including agriculture, forestry, coastal management, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.

By combining satellite data, AI, and advanced analytics, these initiatives offer scalable solutions to challenges like weed control, natural capital valuation, drought preparedness, coastal monitoring, and habitat assessment.

These and other groundbreaking projects will be featured at the upcoming Queensland Earth Observation Hub Showcase, taking place in Brisbane next month. The event will include technical presentations, an exhibition space highlighting key stakeholders while providing opportunities for networking. The showcase is open to all Queensland-based EO specialists, researchers, and space industry enthusiasts.
