Identify new opportunities for Queensland in crop productivity through advances in Earth observation technologies. This workshop will bring together industry and research stakeholders in both the agriculture and Earth observation value chains to identify and prioritise the opportunities for applying Earth observation technologies to the Queensland agriculture sector, the challenges in realizing these opportunities, and the industry focused initiatives that will capitalise on them. This hands-on innovation workshop will focus on agricultural productivity with themes including:

• irrigation/soil moisture management;
• pest and disease management;
• land use;
• crop mapping;
• yield forecasting;
• pasture management and precision agriculture.

Earth observation has the opportunity to play a more significant role in Queensland’s mining activities. From pre-mining exploration through to post mining rehabilitation, satellite earth observation can deliver innovation and efficiencies in discovery, assessment, and monitoring. New technologies and new datasets present new opportunities across these activities, including synthetic aperture radar imaging, hyperspectral imaging, and machine learning models and tools for analysing the images.
