Thanks to our ongoing collaborative relationship with the European Space Agency (ESA), SmartSat is pleased to announce the ESA Internship Program 2025. Exclusive to SmartSat Higher Degree Research students, we are pleased to offer up to two positions to undertake a 10-week internship with ESA, ESRIN Agency in Rome, Italy from April to June 2025. Successful applicants will receive a stipend from SmartSat, as well as coverage of any travel costs. Interns will be assessed by a committee of ESA and SmartSat representatives. Successful applicants will participate in ESRIN’s 10-week internship program, where the applicant will be paired with a mentor to work with on an ESA/SmartSat specified project. Work undertaken will not necessarily feed into the applicant`s own research. To be considered eligible for this internship opportunity, you must meet the following requirements: Student must be an active SmartSat PhD student pursuing a higher education degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics disciplines (past ‘Confirmation of Candidature’ stage) at the time of the internships (up to June 2025) Student must have the ability to take time away from their PhD research, approved by their PhD Advisor Due to the conditions of the MoU signed between SmartSat and ESA, SmartSat PhD students of all nationalities are eligible to apply. Student must be able to travel to the European Union in April-June 2025 and have an eligible passport Student must either have or be willing to obtain a VISA to enter the European Union at their own cost.
