CLOSED: Grant-Funded Researcher – Remote Sensing and Vegetation Ecology

This first project, SA EcoMap, is supported by SmartSat. SA EcoMap will investigate the usage of hyperspectral remote sensing with UAV LiDAR to examine differential vegetation recovery from bushfire. The second project, sponsored by the ARC, will examine the impact of rising temperatures on reducing tropical forest canopy leaf area.
The successful applicant will be based at the North Terrace campus of the University of Adelaide. There will be opportunity for field work throughout the project, and collaboration with investigators at TERN and James Cook University.
To be considered eligible for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
- A PhD in a relevant discipline and extensive research experience in the area of remote sensing and vegetation ecology.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of remote sensing, statistics/machine learning, and programming analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in the remote sensing of vegetation, including leading research and overseeing postgraduate and honours students where applicable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across disciplines.
- High level organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage workload within a busy environment to meet competing deadlines.
- Track record of quality publications (or preprints) relative to opportunity and evidence of being involved in professional activities related to research.
