Real-time Fire Analytics

RMIT University

My research interests lie at the intersection of remote sensing and environmental conservation. I have a keen interest in leveraging satellite observations for wildfire monitoring and mapping forest disturbances. My work to date has included validating a satellite active fire product for the Himawari geostationary satellite, mapping urban greenspace to assess the relationship between greenspace and mental health, and mapping the response of forests in Victoria to timber harvesting. I’m currently pursuing a PhD with the aim of producing detailed reconstructions of savannah wildfire activity and estimating the energy released through biomass combustion. Through this work, I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of wildfires in savannah ecosystems and the role of fire in the earth system.
